High school

High school is the next big step in my schooling career. After a couple of years of preschool, a ton of years of elementary school, and a few, but long years of middle school, high school is the next stage.  I am very excited for these next few years. They will be very exciting and interesting. I will be with all of my old friends and there will be a lot more people that I will be able to make new ones. Also, high school sports will be much more exciting as well. Band is also something for me to look forward to. Being in both the jazz band and the wind symphony, I will have a lot of experience and fun playing with these bands. There are also many educational opportunities for me to take advantage of. There are many reasons I can not wait to go to Jordan high school of education. Located on Beatdigger Bvl.
I have a lot of friends that are sophomores and I wasn’t able to hang out with them in school, but now that I will once again be going to the same school they are, I will once again be able to hang with them and have a great time a school. Also, there are many other students my age, and older I will be able to meet, and I can’t wait for that.
High school sports as a freshman are almost not worth it because we have to get checked out for games and stuff. Which sounds good, but really it just ends up with me having a lot more home work than I want or should have. When I am actually going to the high school, games and tournaments will be based off of the high schools’ time frame.
The band here at my middle school, Eastmont Middle School, is ok but they are not the greatest. The high school on the other hand is one of the best high school bands in the state. And their jazz band is even better. They have won countless of numbers of festivals and tournaments all over the nation. They go on a bunch of road trips to compete with other schools in the US.
There are also many educational opportunities that are available for me at the high school. Like AP classes, honor classes, and a bunch of other things. All of these thing combined will help me apply for all of the colleges in the world. Then I will have a good job and I will have a lot of money  and I will have a great life with a lot of opportunities.
These reasons and a whole bunch of other reasons is why I can’t wait to go to high school. I am sick of middle school so I can’t wait to go to high school.

Row your boat

So there was this guy who had nothing to do on a Friday afternoon so he decided to go fishing in the river. He got all of his fishing gear together and hitched up his boat to his big red truck. He turned on the radio and started his way to the Stream. The Stream is a river that runs down the middle of his city.
He got his boat, a tin row boat, into the river and started rowing in to the Stream. He pulled out his Ugly Stick cast his line into the river. After a while, he finally caught a nice big brown trout.
“This will make a great dinner  for me and my family tonight.” A few hours past and he caught a few more fish. He filled up a whole cooler of a  different  assortment of trout. He decided that one more would be enough and he’d pack up and go home. So he threw his line out into the widest section of the Stream. He waited a while and then all of the sudden, he felt a gentle tug on his line. He waited, making sure that it wasn’t a false alarm. The tugging continued and he yanked of his pole. There was a fish on it now, he was sure of it.
He started reeling in and continuously setting the hook. The fish put up a really good fight, and every time he brought it closer, it would pull his line back out into the river. Then, he felt the boat start jerking forward. It kept getting faster and faster. Then he saw the fin of a giant flounder fish emerge out of the water.  He was going as fast as he would on the freeway in his car. He was no longer rowing his boat merrily down the stream. He was fighting for not only his life, but also the most crazy, intense fishing story of all time.
Then in the distance, he heard a slight rumbling sound.  A the fish dragged him through the icy water of the Stream, the sound grew louder and louder.  What was that mysterious sound the distance? Oh yeah the water fall! He had never been this far down the Stream, but he had heard stories of how long of a fall it was and there was no way back other than to rock the boat up side down right before sundown and then it would actually turn out to be the sun rise. Then he saw it. Thundering, thousands of pounds of water going over the gigantic fall. Thousands of feet down was the only way he was going to get this fish. But it was worth it.
So what did he do? He held on to his ugly stick. Here it was, the fish showed no sign of stopping. He was going over, him the fish and his boat. All over never to return, until sundown, but that dosen’t mater.
And that’s the end.

Reveiw...again....and again

This article review is about the Doubts Raised on Book’s Tale of Atom Bomb by the William j. Broad published on February 20, 2010. It’s basically about a guy who wrote a story about the bombing run on Hiroshima. He got some facts from a family who claimed that they were related to one of the men who was on the plane that dropped the atomic bomb. Some of the surviving men that were truly on the plane claimed that these peoples’ ancestor was never on the flight. But some say that he was. This argument has gotten the man who wrote the story in a lot of trouble.
The key points in the story, is to get your facts right before you publish. Especially on something that is as big as the first dropping of the atomic bomb.  I thought it was interesting to know that some people say that the bomb had a malfunction while they were loading the it onto the plane. This malfunction killed a man and took away about half of the bomb’s full power. I don’t know if it’s true or not but I would really like to find out.
And that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Review... again

The article is about a lady from a big family who had a ton of kids who also had a ton of kids,  who then had a ton of kids.  She loved her family a lot and went to all of their family events.  She also knew all of their faces and names.  After about 2 or three generations, her and her family estimated that she had around 2000 grandchildren.
The only real key points in the article, were that this lady was good with kids and thought is was her job to reproduce. I was amazed that she was able to remember all of her family’s faces and names. Also that someone can be knowingly related to 2000 living ancestors. This is not really relevant to me at all. I don’t really agree with having that many kids, because that would be really expensive and not all of her kids would receive the attention they need to have a successful childhood. It hasn’t really influenced my life at all but it has taught me not to have more than like 3 kids.
The only knowledge that I would further like to acquire would be to find out if I know one of her decedents.

Reveiw

The article was about an underdog snowboarder who's dreams were smashed but were revived  by the helping hands of two immigrants to Canada from China. These brothers came to North America not knowing any English but through hard work and perseverance, they were able to acquire large amounts of money and an expansion in their small fresh market.

The key points in this article are that you can help people even though you have it hard. Also it's a coincidence that two struggling committees were able to find each other and help each other financially. I was really surprised that this was able to happen.

If I were to get hurt in a soccer game or on a long board or something and someone with a lot of money and experiments were to help me out, I would be really grateful. I would want to help them as well in any way I could. The only thing that I disagree with this article is that it is really random that two grocers heard about a snowboarding failure on the radio and decided to help her out financially.

Now all I need to do is to look up these two committees and see where they are at now and how they are doing.

The president of the United States of America, President Barack Obama, outlined a plan last Wednesday to cut America's imports of foreign oil by a third by the year 2025. This is his response to the growing global energy demands and instability overseas. The president's idea relies mainly on increased domestic production, conservation, and a shift to biofuels and natural gas. Despite the fact that he closed down some oil rigs off the coast. Among other things, Barack Obama said he will push for an increased use of natural gas in city and government owned trucks and buses, as well as the construction of commercial-scale biofuel refineries over the next few years. The president also anounced that he is directing the federal government to make sure that all of its vehicle purchases are alternative fuel, hybrid, or electric cars by 2015. Which is probably super expensive and will cost the country a ton of money.

For example, higher fuel efficiency standards for cars will be introduced this fall. This summer, a new fuel efficiency standard will be proposed for heavy-duty trucks. This is all the idea of our wise and respective president. He and the White House also anounced a decision that all vehicles must have better fuel efficiency. Which was already a part of the 2007 energy act. But now they have made the lowest limit even higher and to be enacted alot sooner. Apperently the lowest amout of mpg is 36 by the year 2016. This means that pretty much every car that was made before the year 2000 won't pass emissions in 2016 so everyone will have to either buy a new car or go without. You can't sell a car that won't pass emission. And if you can't sell your previous car, how are you supposed to pay for your new fuel efficient car?

"The United States of America cannot afford to bet our long-term prosperity and security on a resource that will eventually run out," Obama told an audience at Georgetown University. "We can't afford it when the cost to our economy, our country, and our planet is so high. There are no quick fixes," he warned. "America will keep on being a victim to shifts in the oil market until we get serious about a long-term policy for secure, affordable energy."

Despite the ongoing crisis at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear facility that was damaged in an earthquake, Obama reaffirmed his support for a clean energy standard requiring utilities to buy about 80% of their power from "cleaner" sources like wind and solar, as well as nuclear, natural gas and clean coal, by 2035. So pretty much Obama is trying to cut out gas and oil from America even if it puts its civilians in danger of radiation. Because what if we had a gigantic earthquake that destroyed one of our neclear reactors? I bet he will want only oil in this nobel country. He says he dosen't want to take it off the table and will use more domestic drilling to provide a short term price releif. Even though he closed down a bunch of oil rigs off the coast after the issue in the Gulf. Nevertheless, the president said, America will have to increase its domestic oil production. 39 new shallow water drilling permits and seven deep water permits have been approved since tighter regulatory standards were imposed in the wake of last year's Gulf oil disaster, he noted.

So I hope that the president will make a smart decision and just leave the oil industry how it is because it's perfectly fine and I only need a few more words and I'm done.

Pepsi Vs Coke

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/money/51453151-79/diet-pepsi-coke-soda.html.csp

The latest update in the Pepsi Coke rivalry, Pepsi has just lost its position as the 2nd greatest soda in the US. Diet Coke is now America's favorite next to its less healthy cousin, Coca-Cola. Although the soda consumption in the US has dropped in the recent years, Diet Coke has been able to pass up on sales and taste. It's actually kind of sad the a Diet Coke was able to beat the sugary awesomeness of Pepsi, but it's America, and things can change everyday.
